Victor Morozov, Chetvertyy kut. Treba vstaty i vyjty. (Stand up and leave) | | Track Reviews (3) |

|
I think those who carefully follow Victor Morozov‘s creative work will be able to estimate at a true worth how different the projects, in which he takes part, are – and how these projects interlace. For example, a member of the group “The Fourth Corner” Oleh “John” Suk – one may say, thanks to him the project “Is” has appeared and continued. Do you remember? This time the songs of Kostya Moskalets will sound. Is there any need to remind you that today he is considered to be one of the best Ukrainian poets – from those, of course, whom quite a lot of people know? I say all that only because I want you to be sure – everything is all right here both with lyrics and music. In general, sometimes I have the feeling that Lviv groups can not but perform well. More interesting, less interesting – but always well. In a high quality manner. I mean, this music is a peculiar poetic text by itself and not only accompaniment. This album is a bit chamber and intimate, that is why you should not turn on the volume at ful-load. And may be, it is not worth doing that. These are quiet songs, they should not break the silence. On the contrary – they should accentuate it. This is the communication in a whisper. You may even turn off the light.

...This time we can see appearance of something that, it seems, has never before happened in the space of modern Ukrainian music. It is difficult and even virtually impossible to call "Criminal Sonnets" a reaction to such phenomenon as modern Russian chanson (or simpler – the rogue song). It is not just more elevated, it is – even better – different. Refined and simple, grotesque and life-like at the same time...

This album by the “Fajno” group was called one of the most expected debuts the recent months – I agree – that was worth expecting. We can say at once that another good rock-group has appeared in Ukrainian broadcast.

Yuri Gnatkovsky does something quite different, not in line with the general massive of Ukrainian pop and rock music. But – yes, it is light, and bright, and beautiful, and with a taste of jazz. The taste is, actually, not weak – because half of compositions of the album are based on old, known, classic jazz plays.

If I am not mistaken, Luis Armstrong has told, that he could sing even the phone book. "The Dead Cock" has expressed in the same way after record of this album. And you know what? They really could. Nevertheless, it is good that they didn't.

Unlike many other rock-groups, lyrics of the songs of "Plach" written by "exterior" poets - Hrytsko Chubay, Victor Neborak and others. And it is a poetry, strong and expressive, is a pivot of the art of the group. Rock music significantly strengthen perception to poetry, sounds in unison with words.
