The disc contains the best known and loved by people – and it is usually not the same – works by Kvitka-Osnovjanenko. At that, I am sure that the names of these works are familiar even to those who have never read and never seen them, and even to children. That is what real classics means. Personally I have seen about five or six stage versions of "Shelmenko-Denshchik", and half of them – recently. Interest to the play does not disappear, it does not lose its original topicality. The same refers to the rest of works represented here. However, it is clear why. The mankind does not hurry to change, its terrible and ridiculous flaws are the same as 200 years ago – thus, they are actual now as well. On the other hand, Kvitka-Osnovjanenko fills his pieces with folklore motives – and the roots are never outdated. Especially now, when interest to folklore is growing and spreading. Thus, human flaws, virtues and roots – that is always a topical association in interpretation of Hrygory Kvitka-Osnovjanenko, performed (very cozily) by Vasyl Mazur.
