First works written under the pseudonym Panas Myrniy appeared in 1872 in Lviv magazine "Pravda" ("Truth"). As in the Russian Empire the use of Ukrainian language was censured his works were published abroad. Only since the middle 80s of 19
th century Panas Myrniy’s works have been published on the lands of Naddnipryanshchyna (Dnieper Ukraine) including first two parts of a socio-psychological novel "Whore". Not to complicate the matters he had to conceal who he really was from officials and his readers. But also the reason is that he was also a very modest person and believed that it is better not to try to be popular but to work for the benefit of the nation...
