Alfa Alfa. Rozprjahayte khloptsi koney. (Hey, Unbridle Horses) | | Track Reviews (1) |
|
|
Participants of the duet Alfa Alfa once were a part of the group Chornobryvtsi – thus, then popularity came to them first. Actually, Alfa Alfa to some extent keeps on the line initiated by Chornobryvtsi. It means – with a merry smile, but also with a decent quality of mixing two colors in various proportions. Namely – Ukrainian and African ones, as Michael and Becky live in Ukraine, but their roots are in Uganda. So, that is how it happened that now you can hear Ukrainian folk songs mixed with such styles as hip-hop, soul, reggae, R'n'B – we should say that the combination has appeared interesting indeed. And the thing is even not only the mix of styles – in the end, there is lately no lack of experiments in this direction. However, whatever you might think, no "white" voice can be compared with what you will hear here – and this sparkle is worth hearing. First it is just interesting and amusing to listen. But afterwards – you start thinking how much energy in our songs still remain unrevealed, and to what extent their revealing depends on the manner, on the presentation. And, if one is not afraid of mixing colors – it might appear beautiful indeed.

Flyzzza is a very bright example of that people do not change, they just become deeper, wider, more precisely tuned. And if your true nature is being positive – in the course of time, there becomes only more of it. Anyway, Flyzzza manages to not just go in this direction – to literally fly, touching the ground only with smile-heel...

In our view, the compiling appears interesting enough – at least, it is impossible to assess it unambiguously, and this is nice. And the ambiguity consists in that here next to the surprising fervor, youth pride – some important, correct things can be heard, without which life can even lose its whole sense...

The third full-format album by Boombox group has all chances to appear the group's best one for today at the same time – at least, such feeling appears already from the first seconds. And that is logical – always sticking to, on the whole, the same stylistics, with every new step the group perfects quality of the material. Or let us say otherwise: Boombox tries to grow not wide but high above itself...

Here, there is simplicity that has nothing in common with primitivism. Here, there is young but not blind energy – and it makes significant, purposeful steps. And you, the listener, walk hand in hand with it. Because there is accuracy of music solutions – and it means that you at once notice what you are listening to.

This project, without exaggeration, has all chances to become in Ukraine one of the most interesting. "Stereoliza" combines pop music, elements of hip-hop, electronics, something of the disco mood – and the mix appears actual both for Ukraine, and, literally, for the whole of our round Earth. It by no aspects concedes to the best world pieces of the genre.

You now have the opportunity to hear not only a new work by VovaZIL'vova, but also to meet an enormous number of his friends and colleagues in business. Among them, there are already known ones, and those who are not. Listen yourself – there are really plenty of talented people able to create good and bright hip-hop of a high quality.

Although at first sight it might seem that the album is soft and lyric – a strong spring is hidden there, inside. It seems to me that it is in the lyrics, and that it is the lyrics that lead the album ahead, compel one to listen attentively.

It is very easy to “hook” your ear on the hip-hop by V.U.Z.V. First, there are no questions concerning the quality – it has appeared both sated and simple. And the second reason is the texts. Combination of cute jive and easygoing humor – the combination advantageous and rare.

Hey! whatever happenned to this disk? did it not come out?
Just wondering, 'cause the previews sound awesome! The choruses got a Deep Forest feel to them, and generally the mix seems really genuine and upbeat. Sounds like good party music.
