In order to belong here, you need to, probably, be an urban resident whose roots grow deeper than the asphalt level. You need to, probably, feel that culture grows simultaneously in steppes, and abroad, and at shooting, and through fortune telling, and on memory, and on awareness. Not only due to, but also – despite a lot of manifestations of this world. You need, probably, to afford being sharp, acute, rebellious, incompatible – and on this edge to confront contradictions, to mix them up, to re-fuse. And – to take from them something of one's own, live. Sami Svoi do not look for rest – at least, not now. There are too many things requiring purification – it is not the time to sit with your hands folded. The matter of this life expects for labor – and Sami Svoi have the necessary energy. It is revealed in everything – and in the lyrics, none of which is just rhymed gibberish. And in the voice of Oleh Suharev – a bit nervous, mobile, it attracts attention, does not let you calm down and be distracted. And in the music – the violin and electric guitar seem to argue with the rhythm section and the voice of the panpipe, and simultaneously feed them up. In the end, in order to belong here – you need to, probably, be yourself...

...their second album "The Circus of Flowers" sounds much more balanced and serious, and in many other ways different. Stylistically, it is still based on blues-rock, and even with little insertions of reggae, ska, etc, this is the same band. The Mechanical Orange remains itself.

Thus, there are no sophisticated constructions, flirting with the public, theatrical gestures here – but there is simple, and thus strong rock music. And there are the lyrics – probably, not too sophisticated, but thus no less meaningful. Because, in the end, one of the key features of "Trans-Former" has been and still is – honesty.

It looks hardly possible that the name "Mehanichny Apelsyn" ("Clockwork Orange") directly relates to the oeuvre by Burgess: otherwise, it would be quite possible that the group would play a mixture of sort of glam-trash-heavy-punk – wouldn't it? Although that's not a fact. However, "Mehanichny Apelsyn" performs a different – maybe, classic – mixture: blues, rock-and-roll and big beat.

And we will hear the music that is quite rare today in Ukraine – pure rock. Clear rhythms and texts not deprived of the existential, firm guitar turns and energetic male vocal – yes. This is just the color that has been recently lacking in the variety of Ukrainian music, and it’s a pity.

Maximally simple, clear concept – the acoustic guitar plus singing. And it means that lyrics come to the first plan – and, believe me, they are worth being listened to attentively, and not once.

Not too simple, but quite light, melodious – just rock. As it should be, it has enough drive – but enough romanticism as well, that is why the album is on the whole not tense, not aggressive. Melodious and energetic songs of young people, who, it seems, are almost in love.

Kolo Hmar is a Kyiv group playing pure rock, without any superfluous stratifications. Currently, we do not have too many of such groups – however, it seems to be quite easy to explain that. Here, you need to create with the help of, so to say, simple tools complicated, voluminous pictures – that is why each of the group's participants must sound as distinctly as possible.
