This time the series “The Golden Collection” contains not Ukrainian classical music, but the world one. Truth to tell, it contains world classical music performed by Ukrainian musicians – how can it be otherwise? Still, there’s one composition of a Ukrainian nature here – nocturne “Separation” by Mykhalo Hlynka, but these are details, and at that, far from being principal ones. The principal detail is quite different. If you respect classical music, this disc is another opportunity for you to listen again to favourite musical compositions, which belong even not to the national, but to the world cultural treasury. And if you are not interested in classical music at all, then it is understandable in advance that no words, no points of view or very clever quotations will make you change your mind and will make you listen to this music. So, to each his own. And if you like the compositions of Shubert, Chopin, Chaikovskiy, Debussi and others being performed in an ascetic manner (that is, in a chamber manner - without any orchestra), then this disc is exactly for you. In case you don’t like it, then we will meet on a different page.

As well as the first volume, this collection presents world classic pieces performed by Ukrainian musicians. And the definition of a "pearl" refers to, sure, not only the pieces as they are, but also to the models of masterful performance represented here.

Listening and perception of such music requires a certain level from the audience – it is true. But it is also true that the force invested in these works is such that this music strikes an even unprepared listener deeply, solidly.

...when music acknowledged as a standard of beauty is performed with exemplary mastery, inspiration – what could I say here? It certainly should be heard. And one will again make sure that these melodies are immortal. And once again will be convinced that Lviv school of strings – deserves the greatest praise.

All three composers – Grieg, Sibelius and Mendelssohn were wonderful at orchestration and that is why they often adapted their choral and chamber music for orchestra. This debut album from the "Kyiv Soloists Play" series is in a way a true anthology of orchestra transcription.

This disc deserves attention for two reasons at once. One (and the main one) is its content. The chamber orchestra "Kyiv-Classic" is one of the best Kyiv collectives, and its high professional level has been repeatedly celebrated both in Ukraine and abroad...

Even the very name of a composer, I think, should not influence attitude to music. The thing is not the authority, but in beauty – either you feel it, or play another disk. However, I have the suspicion that, having heard performance by the "Rozumovsky" quartet, you will not want to change the disk that soon.

But, as far as we can see, the pearl of the world’s classical music are also included in its repertoire...
