"Medobory" ensemble works both with authors’ songs, and with folk ones. It works deeply – for the founder of the ensemble, Oleg Martsynkivs'ky, is not just a known performer, but also a composer. By the way, his achievements include about 200 his own pieces – plus arrangements of folk songs, kobzar ballads, modern songs. As he has a remarkable tenor, all this together results in quite a good space for creativity. The girls from the ensemble, sure, are also not deprived of voices – and they also play bandura, flute, and violin well. As a result, for example, here, one can hear remarkable, very beautiful Ukrainian romances – this is, however surprising, quite a rare genre. Still, the contents of the album does not go down to romances only – for, as we already mentioned, the ensemble feels easy in various genres. So, here, there will be variety art – both modern, and stylized as that of the middle of the last century. There will be arrangements of folk songs – including such rare findings as Lemki songs. And, irrespective of the genre, there will be remarkable voices – and transparent melodies. Thus, you will hear an album that is, on the one hand, light – and, on the other, beautiful. Wonderful combination, isn’t it?
