"The book describes the life and activity of Wilhelm Habsburgs-Lothringen, a representative of one of the most glorious monarchy dynasties in Europe. W.Habsburgs, whom Ukrainian military men named Vasyl Vyshyvany, closely linked his destiny with the Ukrainian liberation movement, for which he paid with his own life, which was tragically interrupted in the prison hospital of Lukyanivska prison in Kyiv. Documentary materials of the investigation case of W.Habsburgs, his memoirs, poetry and a prose sample make it possible to better understand this bright figure of the Ukrainian national revival of the first half of the 20th century.

Correspondence of W.Habsburgs with K.Guzhkovsky, M.Vasylko, Metropolitan A.Sheptytsky and other Ukrainian public and political figures is published for the first time and sheds light on not known enough pages of the social and political life in Ukraine in the time of the First World War and the Ukrainian national liberation struggle of 1914-1921. Rich illustrative material is included into the book.
