Honestly I respect Rosava’s work – I’m still pleased with her "Kolysanky" (Lullabie) and I advise them to everyone who hasn’t heard them yet. Anyway, I was waiting for this album to be released not just because of Rosava , but more because of the one who is called LoTus here. He was called Titus-Totus before, but now he is thoughtlessly believed to be Leonid Titov… So: LoTus + Rosava + a powerful swarm of associates – here they are the real heroes (let their names be a secret till the due time; to give a hint let’s mention the Kofein studio)). So. As a rule the idea of heroic nature has never even crossed the minds of the heroic figures. Moreover they can even get frightened if one alludes to this. But still they continue doing their work. Just because it is theirs... It’s no use in objecting to the fact that real musicians, the same as the real music, begin with an ability to listen carefully. To listen and to hear. The rest will come with time. I believe that the music you are about to listen to has grown at the point of intersection of heroism and attentiveness. Actually it’s not the only crossing that you can find in the album. As a composer Leonid obviously respects Western vernacular music, and American in particular. At the same time he never shuns European tradition, paying attention especially to classical one. That is why refined jazz, archaic blues, classic education, psychedelia and many other marked his work. As a result there appeared a mixture. On one hand it has no certain definition, but on the other it has its mission. This music is able to rejoice and to inspire, to create a proper atmosphere for meditation and to let you breathe. It gives space and saturates it with vivid colors. The same as any ordinary wonder it penetrates into the lotus – and fills it with light. So easily... Anton Jozhik Leyba (Hedgehog)

The new album by Boombox is another very significant reason to mention the year 2011 as one of the most yielding years for the non-ordinary Ukrainian popular music. No doubt – despite the title, "Middle Age", no crisis is in question here. On the contrary.

Jamala – and the debut album illustrates this very nicely – creates light music in the best Western tradition. And not just coolly – at a high quality level. Her love for soul, funk, jazz, burlesque and even classical music – it's all here, in this music so many things are mixed that you cannot guess everything at once...

...the content of the album in the style aspect is ambiguous – but, definitely, interesting. This time to their branded ethno-chaos they have added quite a bit of very diverse elements: here you have soul, and D'n'B, and hip-hop, and art-rock, and almost jazz decorations. It appears cool.

Is the studio version different from the concert one? No doubt. Without disclosing all secrets, it is enough to say that it remains up to date to go beyond one language and one culture. In my opinion, the album represents the Ukrainian music, but the music which is done by the new generation. It is the product of the new world. The entire world.

It seems to me it is just not possible to listen to them – and not to imagine some stories. Very different – and identically bright. And the main thing is the absolute sincerity, which you feel literally in every sound of the music, in every intonation of Nata Smirina's voice. This is as though you wake up on the first morning of the Indian summer – and, willy-nilly, it catches your breath...

Fortunately, sometimes you run across the albums about which it is very difficult to say anything – because you just frankly like them. Because, in spite of external simplicity, they contain so many ideas, various subtleties – one's ears just go astray..) Because the music tells you stories without words, while the words tell you stories full to the brims with music..

It would seem – just vocal and the piano. But this only verbally looks rather ascetic – in actual fact, a surprisingly powerful emotional current lives inside there. Actually, the way the voice and the piano sound – makes Hanna Brizhata, aka Anniebri, a truly unordinary phenomenon on our scene. Honestly speaking, I can hardly think about a single Ukrainian album resembling "Lo-Fi Feeling"...

...the fact that creation of the concert concept and recording of the album took place in Kyiv, and the sound direction, mixing and mastering of the album was also done by Kyivites – these are no doubt pleasant and significant nuances. To be related to appearance of such music – this is a noble business. Nino Katamadze is just truly – special, and that is the essence...

In spite of that “At Night” compositions do not meet the pop-format, the album is aimed at mass audience. The name, voice and the specific, characteristic of only Svyatoslav Vakarchuk melodics of the compositions will help fans of Ukrainian music become acquainted with new music forms, to seize new music territories.

If we begin from the end, we could do it so: this is a wonderful, heartfelt, clear, high-quality album – and at present this is the best album in the reserve of Anno Domini. In his time, Igor Zakus became virtually the first jazz bass-player in Ukraine who released a solo album. Thus, the new album by Igor Zakus is what nobody seems to have done before in the Ukrainian jazz. And the word "song" in the title "Ukrainian Bass Song" appears far not by chance. Generally speaking, this is also an album of duets

If we speak about Yulia Roma – it is not just a new vocal album. This is truly an author work. What is the sparkle here, you might ask? And it is that this is a Ukrainian-language jazz album – and exactly Yulia Roma is the author of not only the music but also all the lyrics (a booklet with them, by the way, is added to the release). Such an exclusive thing.

Yelena Popova strikes with universality, it is difficult to define where she succeeds better – in energetic "hits" or in lyric, delicate ballads. Here she sounds with a bright flash, promises an explosion – and does not cheat, grants powerful emotional splashes. And in a minute – softly, almost in whisper lulls in cozy intonations, causes quiet tremor with her ability to breathe transparently in thick autumn color...

...the basis of the album is vocal improvisations. And so diversified that every next play surprises you without fail. On the whole, it seems, the music balances somewhere on the verge of hard-bop, besides, it contains some transparent ethnic elements.

It is not enough to have a valuable, high-quality instrument – it is desirable to master it as well. Olga – has mastered it so that we can only be grateful to her. ...Yulia Roma's singing sounds just as that minute of silence before the sunrise, as if blue eyes of a child three-month old, attentively and easily... Music of this voice transforms jazz into soft crystal, it is so masterful that it does not attract any superfluous attention – but you cannot actually stop listening, noticing, feeling – and the sun rises, and the heart elate...
