Olexandr Ponomariov. Vona. (She)

You won’t find on the Ukrainian pop-scene a lot of performers – at least, of middle age – who could compete with Olexander Ponomarev in popularity. At that, as far as I can judge, although women make up the majority of his fans – this majority is not overwhelming. And personally for me it is not surprising – for a too clear image has been created as a result of Olexander’s creative searches. Here is, certainly, the voice as well – for sure, one of the best in our variety art. But you also have here the image of a real intellectual – and it is not about spectacles, sure. On the one hand – the manner of talking, obvious education and experience. On the other – behind external mildness and complaisance, there obviously stand out dignity and ability to achieve objectives set. In the end, the simple ability to feel and behave similarly organically when wearing plain overalls or a tuxedo – it is also a certain display of the integral personality. And, in any case, all that is expressed in songs – and Ponomarev never has them flat, inexpressive. It is clear that more and less successful things happen – but, in any case, they come into notice. As for ballads – here he, probably, has no real rivals. He knows about it – and does not forget, he is never reluctant to make his audience happy.
