Concert recordings of any musical collective clearly show mastery of it's participants, that's say "practical skills". At the same time studio works better show talent of composing and arranging music - say "creative potential". There are both live and studio recordings of "K.Z." on this CD. And I can say that musicians have a great potential and incarnate it on their concerts. From the beginning, a picture on the cover seemed strange for me. But attentively listening the CD, I understood how the music correspond to that figure. Medieval themes appear in the songs of Korolivs'ki Zaici not as a gothic melodies, but as a lofty lyrics, full of bright sadness.

It took about two years for this triple union to finally ripen – and, justifying all expectations, the drink has appeared really interesting and decent. You cannot gulp it in one go to forget the next instant – no, here you will want to savor, to come back repeatedly. And attractiveness of this music in that it lives on the border among absolutely different styles, takes something from each but belongs to none of them in full.

It is possible to say that you can hear folk songs at it. To be exact – ceremonial songs, which present the cicle of the whole year, starting from Conjuration of spring and ending with Epiphany. Then, what does the experiment conclude in? First, in the selection of musical instrument... As to folk music, this choice is not classical at all. The voices, which are presented in a great number here, are not usual either, especially as regards such material...

"Kolomyikas" by Ocheretyany Kit seem really delicious and appropriate to me. OK managed to add to them that very soft, warm aroma that was sometimes so evidently lacking – and now they sound like fresh bread...

If there is in the world such style as benevolent, smiling punk – it is exactly this case. At least, the ideological basis. Because a lot of elements are mixed in the music: clearly, punk, plus alternative, minimalism, ska, symphonic rock, blues, hardcore – and all this cuisine is lavishly seasoned with folk in virtually all possible displays.
