Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is, actually, not so much a place, but rather a phenomenon, space, symbol. However, really located in a specific place. Paths of faith related to Lavra are numberless, and a numberless amount of people is following these paths today, as well as before. Therefore, there is nothing strange in that such a number of recordings are devoted to sounding of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra as it is – in the end, its voices have become famous far beyond not only Kyiv, but also Ukraine. Singing of Lavra monks attracts even people far from orthodoxy – they come to listen to it because real beauty never tolerates limitations. The four albums represented on this disc (the fifth one is rather a collection, though not less beautiful) – are only a small part, certainly. Nevertheless, they are, probably, among the best ones – however, make sure yourself. We will not retell the contents, the names speak for themselves. Thus – listen in peace. The purity and depth of feeling of the a capella singing on this CD is incredibly moving to hear. As with other Russian and Ukrainian church music it leaves one filled with peace. It is a joy to listen to and will be treasured.

Öåðêîâíîå ïåñíîïåíèå -ìóçûêà ñïåöèôè÷åñêàÿ.Åå íåëüçÿ ñðàâíèòü ,ñêàæåì, ñ õîðîâûì èëè àêàïåëüíûì ïåíèåì. Íåâåðóþùåìó ÷åëîâåêó îíà ïîêàæåòüñÿ ñêó÷íîâàòîé.
