The edition of this CD is dated to the 160 anniversary of Mykola Lysenko. His talent substantially enriched a musical heritage of the Ukrainian nation. This album contains only modest part of his works performed by the singer Olesya Charivna and the National Ensemble of the Soloists "Kyiv's Kamerata".

M. Lysenko composed his best stage work – the music drama "Taras Bulba" – based on the plot of the famous same-name story by M. Gogol (libretto by M. Starytsky). The composer attributed a lot of importance to this masterpiece because in the work over it that lasted for a whole decade (1880-1890) he revealed his special artistic demand and civil responsibility.
