"The publication devoted to the family of the known Kyiv printers offers to the reader the opportunity to discover Kyiv at the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century, to find out about the history of becoming and development of the printing-house of S.V.Kulzhenko, which, by extensively applying the phototype technique was the first to make views of the city available for a wide public. In the section "Photo Album", which is built on the retrospective principle, the author of the book, a researcher of the Museum of Kyiv History V.M.Velychko, offers detailed descriptions of the shooting places and recites the history of the prominent sights pictures of which were left for us by old Kyiv photographers. The publishers intentionally offer modern photos duplicating sites of the old shooting in the black-and-white format, so that nothing distracted the reader from the beautiful panorama print by Kulzhenko."
Texts of the articles and comments in the book are in Ukrainian and Russian. Names of the objects represented on the photos are in Ukrainian, Russian and English.
