Mekhanichny Apel'syn. Boichutsky Blues.

It looks hardly possible that the name "Mehanichny Apelsyn" ("Clockwork Orange") directly relates to the oeuvre by Burgess: otherwise, it would be quite possible that the group would play a mixture of sort of glam-trash-heavy-punk – wouldn't it? Although that's not a fact. However, "Mehanichny Apelsyn" (originating from the very Boryslav, which laughs) performs a different – maybe, classic – mixture: blues, rock-and-roll and big beat, and they immediately state that in the first lines of the first song. Here, we should mention that the group had its start as long ago as in 1992 – an old school, according to Ukrainian standards. Young ones almost no longer play such music – so far – and that's a pity. There is in this sounding something very nostalgic, honest – and not only familiar, "native" melodies constructions. Listen to the vocal, that is the real hoarse voice, not the pretension sweetish hoarseness – and, possibly, it is for this reason that it inspires some subconscious confidence. And the texts – there is no fog, quasi-metaphysics, peacocking. In blues, everything must be simple – and everything is simple indeed. By the way, speaking about blues. A few songs on the album (for example, "Nobody Likes Us Here") seem to be a transparent curtsy for the "Russian rock" of the eightieth, more precisely – addressed to one of master of heavy blues Mike Naumenko, the best one of the underground of that time. Thus, if there are things you'd like to go back to, this album may become quite a good "time machine", which will softly carry you 20, or even more years back. When everything was simple. Not because there were no complications, but just because this is – youth.
