During the recent 15 years you could hear and see the multi-instrumentalist Gregory Nemirovsky in a dozen of various projects – though his name is above all associated, presumably, with Er.J.Orchestra and Kiev Art Ensemble. Starting from 2004, Gregory lives in Germany, his first independent works were released there. Well, and "Mirages" is the first solo album by Nemirovsky released in Ukraine. So to say, self-made: parties of all instruments – both real and virtual – he recorded independently in his home studio, professionally mixing the live and the electronic. As a result – the silent poetry of the atmospheric, almost supernatural winds appeared against the background of clear, transparent rhythms and sometimes fluctuating, changeable bass and key lines. This music seems to pull into some mystic circle, however – it also tears, transforms it with sporadic emotional splashes, does not let it calm down melancholically, provokes attention. In fact, it is this sort of an intersection of spaces that has been explored by such people as Bugge Wesseltoft, Nils Petter Molvaer – but there is a "but". Gregory Nemirovsky has long been having his own expressive "voice", manner, which stems from some different music. But – all the same, he was not afraid to dare a new step, and independently. Not a critically radical step, however, interesting and ambiguous – and that is why this work can be recommended for very different audiences. An independent artist must search for new horizons.. This time he found mirages – and beautiful ones)) Thus, it seems that it is "Mirages" by Nemirovsky that have become the first Ukrainian album in this direction – and such beginning, honestly speaking, gives one hope. "Brutal pop power" – so they call it. But there is a great temptation to also add other words: post-rock plus acoustic acid jazz with trip hop education – something like this, probably. However, all these names do not contradict each other – because music like this as it is means going beyond the limits of specific style...

A trio is an optimum option when you have a lot of topics for a conversation, but at the same time you need brevity. And – this is a challenge. Reduction of the composition has logically resulted in that sounding of all the instruments involved acquired more voluminous tints (...) Refined and simple, free and expressive – this program has already had time to acquire the name of a "truly European" one.

...during the recent two hundred years, the clarinet has been one of main voices of both folk and author music on our planet. Its ability to convey the most delicate emotional tints and states, from a hotshot scream to tender whisper, from merry laughter with sad eyes to an act of magic, from the bazaar of nightclubs to universal clarity – strikes.

It sounds as very delicate, intelligent combination of clear feelings and attentive reflections. All through the time while the disc sounds, one has the haunting feeling that the musicians realize themselves and the space around literally at every second – and are able to instantly react to its every motion, because they have inside a full degree of freedom and mastery.

...if we could hear what we say – probably, we would keep silent. But – we do speak. And what is then left for our words but for the echo of our pace? What is then left for our eyes but for memory? And who are we then if not prophets? – for we walk in a circle, that is why we as though know everything in advance...

It is musicians of the group that said about their "SkhidSideMen" album that the world had seen pure jazz. I won't argue – as personally I had exactly the same feeling about this music. The feeling of pure, fair, simple in its wisdom – fire...

...just before one's eyes. That is, when listening to, for example, the play "Two women who have not seen each other for a long time" – you will clearly see the women, and a small square where they met, the color of their hair and temperaments, will be able to discern the voice of each of them. Such expressiveness of performance really thrills.

In skilful hands, it is capable of anything. The triptych "Bravo, Sax!" is called to prove it – and it copes with the task very convincingly. There is the whole palette. Delicately? Yes. Delicately enough to look simple. Interesting? You bet. It is a very bright release.
