"After Christmas is an annual project of Maisternia Pisni, which in different forms embodies the traditional Ukrainian Holiday: Christmas–New Year–Epiphany. ...Traditional singing canon, archaic instruments and avant-garde rhythmics create the image of Christmas, which contains the mystery of the birth of life, the taste of the source, which we came from and which we aspire to again and again..." (information from the CD's polygraphy) Probably, none of those who in 2009 visited "after Christmas" concerts in Kyiv and Lviv would deny: one has a chance to hear, catch this kind of magic from the scene far not frequently. Thus, the "magic" in this case is not just a nice word. In sounding of this concert, there is something in common with shaman sorcery, with music of Tibetan holidays – that is, with those things when harmony seems to be not mandatory, but it gradually appears from the primary chaos. Or vice versa – when the melody, harmony gradually dissolve in unordered sounds, sporadic noise splashes. In the end, in the both cases this –charms extraordinarily (special gratitude, by the way – for the percussion mastery of Claus Kugel). And if one is not distracted by details but allows it all together enter – this space appears very, very large and saturated..
