"Early on Sunday..." is an instant of life, when consciousness wakes up, the dawn, the sun has just risen, the time of non-acting, time of presence of the Time – SUN-DAY, Holiday. Free and indivisible existence of the soul sanctified by Eternity. A ritual is always correlation with time. Ukrainian songs of girls' rituals of the Year, on which the play is built, came to us with the memory of our flesh. They did not ask us whether we wanted to sing them, whether we understood their unpretentious simplicity, whether we had grounds for this sacred singing. We have already left the place where these songs were born. But, possibly, we are the last but one people still able to perceive the Knowledge stemming from the depth of ages, from the depth of Time. In any case, today these songs have no pragmatic meaning, but for that they help us live. Possibly, they are the pain of Earth – or our Earth as it is, which follows us... A "Psal'ma" is a folk song with a religious meaning or content. On this disc the Kyiv folk group "Bozhychi" features a series of ancient Ukrainian psal'ms, recording in the course of several folk expeditions to the eastern part of Ukraine – the Dnipropetrovs'k, Donets'k, Luhans'k and Kharkiv regions. These songs are played without additional editing, in a manner inherent to folk singers.
