It, sure, happens differently to everyone. Oksana Zabuzhko's poetry is what I, for example, have not read till now, but now – I will definitely go on reading it. Why? Because this recording simply and clearly creates a good impression – and causes the desire to meet again, to find out more. Because having listened to the disc, you get, so to say, a complex pleasure. That is both the elementary pleasure of the author's reading – because Zabuzhko recites nicely indeed: brightly, emotionally, penetratingly. And the joy of hearing an intelligent, deep interlocutor – because in these poetries, apart from the skill of following the form, the content – far from ordinary – appears as the main thing. In the end, here you have no doubt: the person who you are listening now is honest. At all events, she tries to be so at least to herself – and usually one can hear it exactly in poems, more than anywhere else. Here – one can hear that.. By the way, this is a studio recording – but everything takes place so sincerely, openly that one absolutely forgets about this nuance. One just experiences a meeting with a wonderful author – and this is a valuable opportunity, because Oksana Zabuzhko meets her readers not that frequently. And in this way – the reader can meet her whenever he/she wishes...
