What makes this album different from the rest of – though few – albums with UPA songs released in Ukraine during the recent few years? Foremost – the performance format. The overwhelming majority of the songs are performed with three voices (Ostap Stahiv, Bohdan Kryvy, Vasyl Kryvy), the only accompaniment is the bandura and, from time to time, the violin. In contrast to variety art arrangements – this sounds somehow more natural. Sure, the songs were arranged here as well – but, in the end, this is folk theater, therefore these arrangements are perceived easier. Moreover, the guys sing really well. And due to that there are only three of them – one can hear well all lyrics of the songs (in contrast, say, to choir performance). Besides, pay attention to the fact that here you will find a number of songs not represented in other UPA songs collections, and this is a great benefit for any interested listener. Moreover: two songs on the disc are performed by girls. Why – that is a separate question to ask, but we should say that they have really embellished this album, interesting even without that. This is, probably, it – you will hear the rest yourselves.
For technical reasons not depending on us, the quality of the recording is not always irreproachable – but, considering the theme of the album, which is interesting for lots of our visitors, we still decided to represent this CD in our shop.
