This disc is a second edition, and its contents differ to some extent from contents of the album of 2008 "Ukrainian Songs & Dumy". Moreover, as a bonus this release offers a video of the duma "Itinerary to Bandura Player Cossack".
Volodymyr Luciw is one of those Ukrainian artists who during their whole life have honored and glorified Ukrainian art in the world. But it happened so that an enormous part of his creative life passed outside Ukraine. It is, actually, possible to say that up to a certain moment he was better known and respected abroad than in his motherland. And it would be so on, if Volodymyr Luciw did not make conscious personal efforts in order that cultural links between Ukraine and the world became more developed, stronger. This is, if you wish, artistic patriotism. But let us go back to the disc – this is a collection of recordings by Volodymyr Luciw made in different years, with different accompaniment compositions. There are a lot of old, rare recordings here, whose worthy age explains and justifies flaws of quality. Be ready. However, most tracks have been preserved well, therefore they sound quite ok. And the main thing – the disc illustrates well due to what Volodymyr Luciw in his time managed to charm audience in a lot of countries. Masterful performance – even now, in so many years, it is able to give joy to the interested listener. And that's what we wish to you.
