It is very pleasant. And also a bit nostalgic, but once again - it has a pleasant content. The explanation may be found in the fact that Oleksandr Ihnatusha is a producer. At a certain moment it seems as if you were listening not to a simple musical album, but to a collection of songs from films. From old and kind films about love, striving, laugh and tears, nonsense and serious questions of life. About the truth of our life – not that truth, which one can find in papers or TV news, but the truth, which one can find in the eyes of a smiling person. Sometimes this person is five years old, sometimes – seventeen, sometimes – as much as usual people do not live. At another moment it reminds the songs of bards – not those who live in the British Isles, but those who live in post-Soviet countries. After that it seems as if you had opened a music box which has been found in the thickets of adult belongings – in it melodies and lyrics have been hidden, and very often it happens that adults lack them. The next moment you understand that the actors who perform in this theatre have such expressive faces that they need no masks or make-up. May be, they play parts. Or may be those parts play them. Everything is honest. Then it becomes cosy.

Volodymyr Shynkaruk kept loyalty to his basic grounds. Thus, his new discs appear from time to time, on which he again acts the former role – as a bard. Poetry, voice, guitar – that is, actually, almost it. But it is hardly possible to say that anything is lacking – because in fact there is enough of everything.

For him, it obviously hurts, because the attempts to choose from two misfortunes the one that seems smaller are doomed. Because misfortune of any size remains misfortune... This album will hardly make politicians blush – otherwise, they will not be politicians. But, possibly, it will help to reflect on that to all the rest – to us. This is important – always.

Oleksandr Smyk is one of the best and the most famous Ukrainian bards. He insists on his amateurism – in such work it’s possible to be a professional only if you stay an amateur.

Oleksandr Smyk doesn’t stop learning something new – and this means that he returns to the primary sources from time to time. So perhaps it’s not by chance, that this album (the latest for today) consists of tourist songs, as the author called them. By the way, once everything began with these songs too…

Vasyl Stus is one of those poets who are known to everybody who knows at least something about Ukrainian poetry. That’s why it is not a surprise to anyone that from time to time musicians of quite different styles and trends turn to his literary heritage...

The scent of Bulgarian tobacco...
This is some album, music of the utmost finesse is about the simplest way to describe it although the only thing that really does this album justice is to listen to it. While listening I get the feeling I am in some smoky, elegant, Ukrainian jazz club where the best in vocal talents, poets, singer-songwriters, film directors are all gathered. ( ...last but not least by all means the omnipresent bevy of Ukrainian beauties!). His style reminds me of the great traditions of the French bard Georges Brassens and of the Russian Alexander Rosenbaum but the music has so much originality that it doesnt quite fit both of those, Ihnatusha does in my modest opinion at least deserve to be in the same league as those two. His performances on theis album convey the same depth of meaning as Brassens and Rosenbaum. The songs are rare in that they are supremely catchy and have lyrics that will get you poring over their meaning for years, well they are poems after all and what masterpieces they are...( my favourite so far is Drach's one about the birds and the letters )
The album has everything, great vocals, exquisite lyrics, more please from this artist! One cd is not enough.
