Taras Chubay. Svitlo i spovid'. (Light and Confession)

I have just caught myself at listening to this album and I’m still listening and listening to it… As for beautiful things, more and more often you somehow notice that they slip by you very quickly. But now I have been listening to this disk for the fourth time and the night has been getting more pellucid. May be, the point is that Taras Chubay is composing more and more high-grade music. May be, sound space has got more filled in – even if you leave out such tender presence of “Virtuosos of L'viv”. May be, I have almost waited till this event. Something nearly 10 years ago Taras Chubay said that some day he would like to publish the album which would contain his Father’s poems. So, here is the disk that contains Hryhoriy Chubay’s poem “Light and Confession”. It seems to be not exactly what Taras used to say, but very close to it. This is one single canvas on which classical string instruments are both canvas and ornamental patterns at the same time. The tone of white gold gives some extraordinary and discreet jazz colour of keys to the whole palette in organic and beautiful way. In general, even well-known songs sound deeper and more complete, that is richer. This music trembles inside of you somehow unusual and … you want it to continue more and more. Therefore – not for the first time – I am listening and listening...
