All the band members are very experienced musicians. Even though the band got its name from the name of the youngest member and a leader of the band – bass player and composer Ilya Alabuzhev.
Among the biggest achievements of Ilya we can name – special diploma "For the best jazz composition" of the International Jazz Contest "Do#Dj Junior 2009", his performances during “Ukrainian jazz days” on Muzenergo Festival, Russia 2009.
The main idea that united the band is their warm attitude toward creative ideas of Ilya Alabuzhev.
As any high standard contemporary jazz music, the music of Alabuzhev might be characterized wrong if we use standard definitions. Of course, there are parts where we can hear the influence of the World Jazz Masters, but in this case the name of composer goes along with his inspirers names.
Alabuzhev Jazz is easy to listen, but at the same time it is constructed exquisitely and composed complicated. It has a mood that changes all the time (as one of reviewers said: "The mood that changes as the mood of a hysterical woman"). Although the process in A-LA Sextet is not hysteric, but a controlled dialog between six professional musicians, where each has his own point of view.
It is very interesting that there are a lot of musicians not only on the stage but also in the audience during A-LA Sextet concerts!
On the 4th of May in Art-club 44 A-LA Sextet will present their new program. It is going to be a wonderful present for all music lovers whether they are familiar with A-LA Sextet music or not.
