Ephyra. Ty Son. (You Are a Dream)

Strange and nice – and one even finds it difficult to say which is more extensively represented here. Ukrainian musicians are gradually progressing westward – that is a fact. But it is cool that this movement is not one-sided. Actually, due to such projects as Ephyra – the movement is reverse one. For the group is from Chicago and performs its songs in Ukrainian – and, moreover, manages to release its records not only in the USA, but also in Ukraine. "You Are a Dream" is already the second Ukrainian-language album by the group, and not long ago you could find the first one – "Symphony" – with us as well. Ephyra continues keeping its style, namely – playing strong, melodious music on the verge of pop-, hard- and sympho-rock. These songs are too harmonious to destroy anything – but also too serious to just be background music. Besides, virtually all the songs have emotional, lyrical texts – and this also results in that you listen to them more attentively than, say, to the radio. In fact, a few years ago Ephyra had almost no competitors in Ukraine – too little of such music was released then. The situation has changed today, the choice has become wider. But – the more interesting it is now to compare the quality...
