Haydamaky. Kobzar.

Quite a lot of Ukrainian groups have really pied performance geography outside of Ukraine, and Gaydamaky are no exception here. But Gaydamaky are one of those groups – that enjoy really loud popularity in Europe. Loud enough to engage in listening to Ukrainian music even those people who have never ever heard about Ukraine before, to say nothing about its music. However, there are now more and more of such "music ice-breakers" appearing – but Gaydamaky still remain among the most successful and the brightest ones. And take into consideration that the issue here is not classic variety art, not folk songs, not sabers and "sharovary" trousers – and it is for this reason that Gaydamaky deserve that respect that they have absolutely. They follow their own creative path becoming at that ever more commercially successful – this, you should agree, is a talent. Considering that Gaydamaky have been demonstrating this tendency for four albums in succession already – we have nothing but to warmly welcome such purposefulness. It is also nice to remark that the group's music has once again grown more powerful than it used to be. Besides, its imagery can be quite confidently compared with literature – in its various displays. That is, there is music similar to laconic poems, to a quiet story, to magic fairy-tales, to trash tales... In the end, "Kobzar" as such is a book, collection of diversified stories. And Gaydamaky group appears here as far not the worst writer...
